Head of the GSA Emily Murphy Has Announced The Beginning of Biden-Harris Transition Into the White House
The head of the General Services Administration, Emily Murphy, has penned a letter detailing her plans to aid President-elect Joe Biden in beginning his transition into the White House.
After delaying the transition of power for two weeks, this past Monday, Murphy, one of former President Trumps’ key appointees, stated that she plans to begin the transfer of power from the Trump Administration to the Biden Administration. This is the first time that anyone in the Trump Administration has acknowledged that Biden and Vice President-Elect Kamala Harris won the November 3 presidential election.

In her letter to Biden, Murphy details that she plans to give his administration all of the resources they need to transition into the White House, including $6.3 million. This transition will primarily involve the Biden Administration acquiring office space, technological devices, and other necessities prior to the January 20 presidential inauguration. Recently, Biden and Harris have been meeting with government officials to prepare for the transition of power.
According to USA Today, the executive director of the Biden-Harris transition team, Yohannes Abraham commented on Murphy’s statement and said, “Today’s decision is a needed step to begin tackling the challenges facing our nation, including getting the pandemic under control and our economy back on track. This final decision is a definitive administrative action to formally begin the transition process with federal agencies.”
