Darius Rucker joined Katy Perry last night at the American Music Awards to sing her emotional song “Only Love.” With the dedication of the performance to her pastor father, the song was even more heartfelt and powerful than ever before. This was the first time that Perry sang this beautiful track live.
Perry shared the announcement of the dedication on her Instagram page before the show on Sunday night. She let her followers know with a picture of her as a baby with her father holding and kissing her cheek.
Rucker was honored and excited to share this moment with Perry. He tweeted on Sunday night a picture of him and Perry socially distanced on the AMA stage to reveal their duet of “Only Love.”
