Trevor Noah Announced as the Host of 2021’s 63rd Annual Grammy Awards

South African Comedian Trevor Noah will host the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards in 2021.

On CBS This Morning, Gayle King announced that Noah was chosen by the Recording Academy to host the show. In a statement about his latest hosting gig Noah said, “I think as a one-time GRAMMY nominee, I am the best person to provide a shoulder to all the amazing artists who do not win on the night because I too know the pain of not winning the award! (This is a metaphorical shoulder, I’m not trying to catch Corona). See you at the 63rd GRAMMYs!”

The selection of the comedian to host has been well received on social media and across the world. Fans from his home country, South Africa, celebrated Noah’s accomplishment as well. Noah started his road to fame as a comedian/actor in Johannesburg. After a difficult upbringing, bearing witness to the abuse of his mother, Noah came to the United States. He has now made a name for himself as the host of Comedy Central’s The Daily Show. He has used his platform to raise awareness on the issue of domestic violence in South Africa, as well as starting a non-profit for orphans in Johannesburg.

After Noah was named host of Music’s Biggest Night, music lovers began counting down until the nominees were revealed. Publications and social media users have been making predictions for months. For Record of the Year, Forbes predicted Lady Gaga and Ariana Grande’s “Rain on Me” as a strong contender for nominations, as well as Post Malone’s “Circles.” Check out the full list of nominations here.
