Pete Davidson Will Lead a Table Read of ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’ This Christmas

SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE / Peggy Sirota

Saturday Night Live cast member and comedian Pete Davidson is set to read for George Bailey in a virtual table read of It’s A Wonderful Life with other celebrities and here’s what you need to know.

The table read is taking place over Zoom and was organized by American actor Ed Asner and will also include Mia Farrow, Maude Apatow (known for her work in The King of Staten Island), Ellie Kemper, Carol Kane, Bill Pullman, Michael Shannon, Ed Begley Jr., B.D. Wong, Diedrich Bader, Richard Kind, and Asner himself. The money from tickets sold for the virtual benefit will go to Asner’s charity, the Ed Asner Family Center, which aims to provide mental health support to families with members with special needs.

The event will be hosted by America’s Funniest Home Videos host Tom Bergeron and will take place on December 13, 2020, at 4:30 PST. You can purchase a ticket on Asner’s website specifically for the gala. The event will also feature special surprise guests. Davidson’s role was originally played by Jimmy Stewart in the 1946 film.

In a statement to the NY Post about the upcoming virtual gala, Matthew Asner, the co-founder of the foundation, said, “We are so thrilled to have Pete reenact the role of George in ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’ with his talented wit and clever vocalizations. And we look forward to having Maude join the cast as Violet with her creative flair.”

We look forward to seeing the magic of Christmas come to life at this virtual gala and hope that everyone stays safe for the upcoming holidays. You can purchase a ticket for this wonderful event on their website for $50.
