China Anne McClain Opens up About the Cancellation of ‘Black Lightning’ and Her Spiritual Journey

Actress China Anne McClain closes the Black Lightning chapter of her life and embraces what is to come with open and loving arms.
McClain explains that she found out, along with the rest of the world, when the news first broke. She goes on to say that this would have been her last season regardless of the show ending, and she only shows up in a selected amount of episodes in the fourth season. Though she doesn’t delve into the reasons she was leaving, she asks her fans to trust her.
She says that she liked the people she worked with at the CW and the network but she’s “doing God’s work now. And [she’s] not doing anything else.” She wants her fans to know that every decision she makes is carefully thought out and not intended to negatively affect anyone.
As tears rush down McClain’s face, she clarifies that she believes that God is leading her somewhere else. McClain started a spiritual journey since quarantine and the lessons she has learned are what spark her actions moving forward.

She has learned a lot on Black Lightning and is grateful for everything. She thanks her crew for bringing the show to life and the way they treated her. She also thanks those who supported the show and hoped they took away those good moments.
Moving forward, McClain is going to be creating movies that teach and show people things that are common in the entertainment industry. She plans to take the recent tough conversations she has shared via social media and transfer the same energy and mindset to her films.
