Britney Spears Releases Previously Unreleased Song ‘Swimming in the Stars’

RCA Records

On her 39th birthday, pop singer and actor Britney Spears released her new song “Swimming in the Stars” and here’s what you need to know.

The singer known for her hits “Oops!… I Did It Again,” “Toxic,” and “(You Drive Me) Crazy,” surprised fans by releasing a new single with no announcement on December 2, 2020. According to Billboard, the single was”first exclusively available in November as a 12″ vinyl single at Urban Outfitters, which celebrated 11/11 Singles Day by releasing “Swimming In the Stars” and 10 more songs as UO Exclusive Singles.” The single is now available to be streamed on all platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, and more.

Although the singer has not posted anything about the new single on her Instagram or her Twitter, the link to stream the song is in both of her bios. She posted in honor of her birthday on Instagram with her beau, Sam Asghari (personal trainer), and vacationed with him in Hawaii prior to her birthday.

This is Spears’ first single since the release of her last album, Glory, in 2016. The single has been received well by fans and critics alike, as it is #5 on US iTunes. Her latest release, prior to “Swimming in the Stars,” was a remix of her song “Mood Ring” from her album Glory this past summer.

Fans voiced their excitement about the release of the new single (that the singer recorded while recording Glory almost five years ago) on Twitter. They also wished the singer a happy birthday and expressed their support for her.

We would like to wish Spears a happy birthday, and we can’t wait to keep listening to her latest single, “Swimming in the Stars” on repeat. The link to stream the new single on multiple platforms can be found here.
