Miley Cyrus Opens up About Divorce From Liam Hemsworth
Miley Cyrus appears on The Howard Stern Show on December 3, where she openheartedly spoke about her ex-husband Liam Hemsworth.
Cyrus joined Howard Stern on his radio show to discuss her new album Plastic Hearts. As they discussed the meaning behind the record and her song “WTF Do I Know,” Stern mentions he believes the song is about the singer’s ex-husband. Stern says, “You’re giving this guy too much by writing a song about him.” Cyrus responded by saying she can’t help but write a song about that topic and unexpected life events.
The singer-songwriter continued to explain how the track, “WTF Do I Know,” captures a moment of emotions that are a part of her but don’t necessarily define her as a whole. Cyrus asserts the song was about Hemsworth at the moment of writing. Cyrus elaborates by saying, “Time kind of heals all, but that was at a time where I felt really strong. And then somedays I don’t.”
“We were together since 16. Our house burned down. I don’t know if we ever thought we would get married but when we lost our house in Malibu..in trying put that back together it forced me to let go, I still do & loved him very very very much & still do as well.”-Miley on Liam pic.twitter.com/isHrKOOOd8

Cyrus opens up more about their marriage, describing how the fire that destroyed her home in 2018 sped up the wedding process. She says, “I had so much and it was all gone, every song I had ever written was in that house. Every photograph of me that my parents had given to me, all my scripts, I lost everything… I just clung to what I had left of that house, which was me and him.” Cyrus explains the fire caused her to experience a significant loss and trauma. However, her sentiment throughout the conversation is one of having learned from this part of her life.
Aw she said she that she will always love Liam. 🥺

The artist ends this segment by saying, “And I really do and did love him [Hemsworth] very, very, very much and still do, always will.”
Such sentiment is sure to remain from a relationship that lasted as long as theirs. Moving on from this experience, Cyrus hopes to be with someone who “keeps life funny” and “has an interesting perspective.” You can watch the full interview on The Howard Stern Show YouTube page.
