Pixar to Launch New ‘Lightyear’ Movie With Chris Evans as Buzz Lightyear
Chris Evans will be joining Pixar in space as he will be voicing Buzz Lightyear in their upcoming origin story Lightyear.
On Thursday, December 10, during the Disney Investor Day, Pixar announced the launch of Lightyear. The animated film will revolve around everyone’s favorite space ranger Buzz Lightyear, a character best known from the Toy Story saga. An origin story that will showcase the human Buzz Lightyear that inspired the toy. Angus MacLane, best known for his work as co-director in Finding Dory, will take the director position for this film.

As soon as Pixar released the news, Evans took to Twitter and Instagram to demonstrate his excitement and gratitude for this opportunity. In a statement, Evans expressed, “Working with Pixar is a dream come true. I’ve been a massive fan of their films since the very beginning.” The actor explained how surprised he was when they said the name “Buzz Lightyear.” He shared, “I didn’t know what that meant, since Tim Allen is Buzz Lightyear, and no one could ever touch his performance.”
However, Evans explained how he wanted to dive into the character and know how this story was different and worth telling. He assured fans on his Instagram post that he could not stop smiling throughout the film’s pitch and to be prepared to be awed. He finished his statement by saying, “This one is gonna special, and it doesn’t step on a single thing. I can’t even put my excitement into words. I smile every time I think about it.”
