Former Beatles member Sir Paul McCartney just released his 26th studio album that he recorded during the lockdown and here’s what you need to know.

The British singer-songwriter just released his new album called McCartney III, which is the 18th solo album that the singer has produced and serves as a continuation of his two previous albums, McCartney (1970) and McCartney II (1980). The new album features songs including “Long Tailed Winter Bird,” “Find My Way,” “Seize the Day,” “Deep Down,” and more. Like many of his previous albums, McCartney proves that he is a virtuoso when it comes to music as he plays all of the instruments on the tracks himself and performs a one-man show on the new album.

When talking to NPR about his experience writing his latest album, McCartney said, “I was very lucky to be able to come to my studio and make some music, which took the edge off the whole quarantine thing. I would write a song, then I’d come in and record it — or I’d say, ‘Wait a minute, what about that song I started last year but never got round to finishing?’ So there was no worry attached,” he says. “If you’re making an album, what you might call a proper album, you’re concentrating on making sure it’s right. And this project, I wasn’t concentrating. I was just [saying], ‘Sounded good? Right, on to the next thing.’ It’s got a very loose feel to it.” Since its release, the album has received favorable reviews from critics and has topped several charts.

McCartney even gave fans an inside look into his recording process on his TikTok account. In an exclusive behind-the-scenes video, fans got to see the singer-songwriter in his element, at his home studio playing the drums.
