Gal Gadot Discusses the ‘Wonder Woman 1984’ Streaming Decision and ‘Imagine’ Video Backlash
Gal Gadot opens up about the tentpole superhero film of the year, Wonder Woman: 1984, as well as how she’s been working through life during a pandemic.
Gadot knows that health and safety is the number one priority on everyone’s minds, therefore she is settling with the fact that her film will be released both in theaters and through HBO Max. However, she still has hope that fans will return to theaters for the experience a big screen brings.

Gadot states to the Los Angeles Times, “I can’t see studios making tentpole movies just for the streamers because it’s a 360 experience to go to a theater and experience that. I certainly hope that, once the pandemic is over, things will go back on track.”

As Gadot was prepping a whirl-wind press tour, the pandemic was just beginning to spread in the US. At this time, Gadot decided to bring some virtual cheer to everyone who was at home—with a cohort of other dazzling celebrities. Unfortunately, this missed the mark as fans commented that it was a tone-deaf response to the loss and suffering occurring throughout the world.
Gadot comments, “Sometimes you want to do a good deed and it’s just not the right good deed. I had the best intentions, and I wanted to share my love and to show that we’re in this together and we’re all one. And sometimes it just doesn’t work.”

Then her movie got delayed and she decided to sing “Imagine”
While it is not exactly the release the cast and crew wanted for this historic film, the director, Patty Jenkins, is proud it is coming out in a few days. She says, “I felt pretty good about releasing it this way because we’ve learned that it’s very hard to predict the future, and there were no good options. In our case, we are the most overdue movie, so I really think now was the time to release our film. This was a special case.”
