Selena Gomez’s year has been outstanding, but not the ideal year anyone was hoping for.

Gomez chatted with Billboard to discuss 2020 and how she has been blessed among all of the hardships. Just like the rest of the world, the singer mentioned to Billboard how she wishes the world could be a better place right now.

“There’s this bittersweet feeling, of course. I would much rather the world be in a better place,” she told Billboard this past Thursday. “Yet at the same time, it was so beautiful to see that my music could hopefully bring some people some sort of joy in the midst of it.”

The singer’s year had not fallen short due to the pandemic. She released her third No.1 album on the Billboard charts, Rare, which was incredibly moving. Gomez also debuted her HBO cooking show Selena + Chef and dropped her cosmetic line, Rare Beauty.

Gomez was also a huge advocate of promoting her followers to vote in the presidential election. She also reunited with her Wizards of Waverly Place costar David Henrie for This is the Year.

Gomez donated the money raised from her exclusive merchandise to the MusiCares COVID-19 Relief Fund while using her strong platform to promote Black leaders during the protests for police brutality.

Look out for Gomez next year, as she has much more to come. She will be starring in Hulu’s Only Murders in the Building and another season of Selena + Chef.
