‘Bridgerton’ Showrunner Wants an Eight-Season Run for the Hit Netflix Series
Viewers fell in love with Regency London’s fictional family, the Bridgertons, and from what showrunner Chris Van Dusen had to say, we will hopefully get to see a lot more of them on our screens.
Bridgerton, which is Shonda Rhimes’ first collaboration with Netlfix, is poised to hit 63 million households by the end of January. With record-breaking numbers, viewers are ready for Netflix to announce a second season of the new series.

Bridgerton is an adaptation of Julia Quinn’s first book in her Bridgerton series, The Duke and I. The show’s first season follows the relationship of Daphne Bridgerton, the family’s eldest daughter, and Simon Basset, the newly minted Duke of Hastings. However, if renewed, showrunner Chris Van Dusen has heavily hinted that the show would focus on another of Bridgerton‘s relationships.
In an interview with Collider, Van Dusen said, “This being a family of eight children and there being eight books, I would love to be able to focus and really tell stories and love stories for all the Bridgerton siblings. For each character, for sure. I would love that.”

The second book in the series, The Viscount Who Loved Me, centers around the eldest son, Viscount Anthony Bridgerton, and his quest to enter a loveless marriage. This plotline was mirrored in the eighth episode of the series, which also included hints towards Anthony’s happy ending.

In addition to the first two books, the rest of the series includes An Offer from a Gentleman, Romancing Mr. Bridgerton, To Sir Phillip, With Love, When He Was Wicked, It’s In His Kiss, and On The Way To The Wedding, which follows the love stories of Benedict, Colin, Eloise, Francesca, Hyacinth, and Gregory, respectively.
Netflix has yet to officially renew the show for a second season, but an eight-season could definitely be possible with how popular the show has become. Bridgerton is currently available to stream exclusively on Netflix.
