Netflix’s Spooky Film ‘Things Heard and Seen’ Stars Amanda Seyfried and James Norton
Amanda Seyfried and James Norton are starring in the upcoming Netflix movie Things Heard and Seen.
Things Heard and Seen is based on the 2016 novel All Things Cease to Appear by Elizabeth Brundage. The plot is about a married couple who moves to Manhattan to a home in the Hudson Valley and experiences fear within their marriage that competes with the haunted landscape of their house.
Screenwriter Shari Springer describes the film in an EW interview as a “supernatural thriller” with a “gothic quality.” The other screenwriter Springer Berman would describe the movie as having ghosts and murder but with “a real emotional drama.” Both writers were Academy-Award nominees for American Splendor.
Famous horror writer Stephen King reviewed All Things Cease to Appear on Twitter with a positive review.

Going from a book to a film adaptation required a few alterations. The movie is set in 1980 while the book was set from ‘79-’80. The book had three brothers but the film condensed the personalities down to two brothers.
The writers also chose to lower the time stretch so that the couple’s child Franny does not age as quickly as in the book.

Other cast members in Things Heard and Seen include Natalia Dyer who was Nancy Wheeler in Stranger Things, Rhea Seehorn from Better Call Saul, AXL’s Alex Neustaedter, as well as Oscar-winner F. Murray Abraham who was in The Grand Budapest Hotel, Amadeus, and Star Trek: Insurrection.
This highly anticipated thriller Things Heard and Seen will be available to stream on Netflix April 30.
