Hayley Williams Just Released a Beautiful Cover of Massive Attack’s ‘Teardrop’
Hayley Williams delivers stunning vocals in her newly released cover of Massive Attack’s “Teardrop”.
Williams first debuted her “Teardrop” cover back in December for Jack Antonoff’s 7th Annual Ally Coalition Talent Show, a charity event that helps raise money for LGBTQ youth. This was one of her few live performances since going solo following her departure from Paramore.
Williams released her first solo single “Simmer” last January along with her album Petals for Armor back in May, which did very well and was named one of the best albums of 2020 by Billboard, Rolling Stone and more. Williams planned on taking the album on tour, but it was eventually canceled due to COVID-19 concerns.
“Teardrop” was first released in 1998 by Massive Attack and sang by Elizabeth Fraser, and it was featured on their album Mezzanine. Williams put her own spin on the song, giving flawless vocals that seemed to come effortlessly as she performed in a robe and hair towel while playing the piano in the comfort of her own home.

The performance was heartfelt and somber as she sat in a dark room with florescent lights that changed colors throughout. Several lit candles sat on a table in the background, helping to create a dark ambiance.

Fans are loving the cover and they’re glad to finally have an official version after watching the performance at the Ally Coalition concert. They’re happy that Williams is finally able to showcase her individual talents and reveal her own musical style without Paramore.
