WILLOW X Jahnavi Compels Inter-Human Spirituality With ‘R I S E’
R I S E, the newest EP album by WILLOW released on November 20, features British artist Jahnavi Harrison and utilizes sounds that create peace and anxiety-relief.
Through the lyrics, R I S E is about the changes needed to create a more peaceful world. The lyrics in each song indicate that even if one cannot change the way other people define themselves, one can erect change in themselves. Soft drums, strums of guitars, reverberating violins, nature noises and mantras from Hindu scriptures, all provide a minor glow in the background allowing the vocals to stand out.
The Bhakti-yoga instructor brings her teachings of meditation music to an approach of WILLOW’s Western audience giving the audience the ability to connect with different roots.
A limited-edition t-shirt was designed by Jahnavi Harrison and WILLOW featuring a woman dancing towards the sun, surrounded by trees on the front. The back of the shirt shares a quote regarding a new way to live, “I need to live for higher purpose someone’s knocking on the door from the inside.”
In an interview from Wonderland Magazine, WILLOW shared her excitement to work alongside the Bhakti yoga-teacher, “It was so beautiful because I look up to Jahnavi so much and I had listened to her music for months and months before we started working together and really got acquainted with just her vibe. She has just a divine presence and I was really excited to be around that and learn from that.”
