Melania Trump Will Not Give Jill Biden a White House Walk-Through; First for Any Modern First Lady
First Lady Melania Trump will make history as she and her husband leave the White House by not giving a traditional walk-through to the incoming First Lady, Dr. Jill Biden.
Traditionally, the out-going First Lady of the United States makes a statement of goodwill when she gives the incoming First Lady a guided walk-through tour of the White House. Melania Trump will not be partaking in this tradition as Jill Biden becomes the 47th First Lady of the United States.
This means that Melania Trump will become the first First Lady in modern history to not provide the courtesy walk-through. CNN confirmed the news on January 18.

That’s not very “Be Best,” is it?
Melania Trump was given a walk-through by Former First Lady Michelle Obama despite Donald Trump’s racist birtherism accusations towards her husband, Former President Barack Obama. This is a time-honored tradition that provides an image of unity. Melania Trump’s refusal to invite Jill Biden is a stark contrast to the inauguration’s theme: America United.

Not only will Melania Trump eschew traditional courtesy, neither she nor her husband, President Donald Trump, will be attending President-Elect Joe Biden’s inauguration. Trump has yet to officially concede the election, even if he did promise a peaceful transition of power.
Jill Biden, fortunately, already has previous knowledge of the White House since she served as the Second Lady of the United States from January 2009 – January 2017 when her husband served as the Vice-President of the United States.
While the Trump family will not be at the inauguration, Former President Bill Clinton, Former Secretary Hillary Clinton, Former President George Bush, Former First Lady Laura Bush, Former President Barack Obama, and Former First Lady Michelle Obama will be in attendance. Former President Jimmy Carter and Former First Lady Rosalynn Carter will not attend because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
I’d actually love to see Dr. Jill Biden hosting Michelle Obama, Laura Bush, Hillary Clinton, Rosalynn Carter for a real First Ladies virtual luncheon. What a unifying message that would send. 💙🇺🇸
