Running from 1989 to 1993, the original Saved by the Bell consisted of 85 episodes over a total of four seasons. Season one of the reboot initially launched last November. In the series, Zack Morris, who is still played by Mark-Paul Gosselaar, is now the Californian governor. After some political pandemonium, Morris sends students from a previous impoverished school to some of the best, one of which is Bayside High.

“I’m thrilled that Saved by the Bell has been renewed,” writer and executive producer Tracey Wigfield said. “I’ve been blown away by all the love for the show and can’t wait to go back and make more episodes. Hopefully, we stay on Peacock for many more seasons, and then in 30 years, somebody does a reboot of our reboot and invents the three boot.”

Viewers still get to witness the original cast throughout the reboot. Jessie Spano (played by Elizabeth Berkley) has become the guidance counselor at Bayside, while A.C. Slater (played by Mario Lopez) is now Bayside’s gym teacher. To no surprise, Kelly Kapowski (played by Tiffani Thiessen) married Morris and together they have a son who attends Bayside High. Lark Voorhies also plans to reprise her role as Lisa Turtle.

The original gang’s reunion is accompanied by a new generation of high-schoolers including Josie Totah, Mitchell Hoog, Belmont Cameli, Haskiri Velazquez, and Alycia Pascual-Pena.

Due to COVID-19, the release date for the second installment hasn’t been released. However, the original 1990s Saved by the Bell can be enjoyed on Peacock, Amazon Prime, or Hulu with season one of the reboot available only on Peacock.
