Netflix Announces Fan Favorite ‘Bridgerton’ to be Renewed for Season 2
Lady Whistledown is not done publishing the secrets, scandals, and gossip of London’s elite. Season two of Netflix’s hit show Bridgerton is coming.
After announcing that Bridgerton‘s first season was watched by 63 million households within the first month it debuted, fans were left wondering what would come next for the series. Netflix took to Youtube, Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook with a teaser trailer highlighting iconic moments from the show’s first season. The clip ends with a solo shot of Viscount, Lord Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey), smiling in bed.

The show centers around the popular gossip leaflet written by Lady Whistledown, whose identity still remains a secret, as she exposes the inner workings and drama of London’s eligible elite.
Bridgerton‘s official Twitter and Instagram profiles posted an update from the fictional “Lady Whistledown’s Society Papers,” giving fans further information on the show’s second season.
It appears that the eldest Bridgerton sibling, Anthony, will be the star of the upcoming season as he begins to look for a suitable wife and mother for his potential heirs. In the last episode of the show’s first season, Anthony vows to remove love from his quest to marry as it causes unnecessary distractions and drama.

Bridgerton‘s move to feature Anthony as the lead parallels the source material’s order, The Bridgerton series written by Julia Quinn. The show’s first season followed the story of the first book, The Duke and I, which is the love story of Simon Bassett, Duke of Hastings (Regé-Jean Page), and Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor). The second book, The Viscount Who Loved Me, focuses on a love story for Anthony, while he refuses to let himself fall in love.
The show will begin filming in Spring 2021, and although a set premiere date has not been announced, fans are eagerly awaiting more. On Twitter, Nicola Coughlan, who plays Penelope Featherington, alluded to the show already having the cast fitted for their costumes.
I *may* have already been in costume fittings for Season Two and can guarantee you are absolutely not ready
