VIDEO EXCLUSIVE: R&B Songstress Ayanis Shows You How to ‘Drip’ as She Drops Hot New Video Featuring Mulatto aka ‘Big Latto’
Don’t sleep on Atlantic ‘R&Bop princess’ Ayanis; she’s going by her first name only for a reason and dropping a fiery new video for ‘Drip’ featuring Big Latto.
Ayanis takes over the music scene and takes no prisoners with her sultry, unique voice and moves, showcasing her deep southern Texas and Atlanta roots. She is literally killing the game, releasing hit after hit off her label Island Prolific/Atlantic Records.
Ayanis first attracted national acclaim in 2018 with a leading role on Atlantic Records and Live Nation’s Access Granted: HBCU Edition tour, celebrating homecoming season with visits to HBCUs across America. BET followed up with an exclusive “Ayanis HBCU Tour Diary,” streaming HERE. Billboard touted her as “the rising singer putting a nostalgic spin on R&B.”
Ayanis has that cool vibe that feels like a bestie or chill girl next door that you want to tell all your problems to, knowing she’d be like, “Girl, don’t sweat it, let’s go do something fun.” Smooth and angelic vocals like a new age Aliyah, infectious lyrics like Destiny’s Child, mix in vocals and dance moves reminiscent of Ciara, and you get something that really hits different for a new generation of R&B fans.
Ayanis came on the scene with her EP, Direction, giving us bops like “Awh Yeh,” “Wait a Minute” and “F.I.Y.T” in 2018. In 2019, she premiered “One Night (Feat. Wiz Khalifa),” which was produced by 2x Grammy Award-winner J. White Did It (Cardi B, Megan Thee Stallion, Beyoncé.) Fast forward to October 2020, and she dropped her eagerly awaited EP, YANI, with heavy-hitter features, collaborating with such names as Wiz Khalifa, A Boogie, Jack Harlow, Big Latto, Queen Naija, and Vedo.
Ayanis showed off her smooth dance skills in her official music video for her hit “Lil Boi (Big Talk) [Remix],” featuring Louisville, KY native Jack Harlow. The video now has surpassed more than 2.5 million views via YouTube.
Ayanis explained, “YANI is the evolution of becoming a woman. It’s about me being a girl from the south, living in a small town, now sharing my experience of living in the city. Growing, learning, feminine energy, having fun, being bossy, being confident, being sexy, feeling vulnerable, these are the things I felt making this project. It’s an experience!”
“Drip” is Ayanis’ latest video release off of YANI, and it will definitely have you out of your seat and revving up your TikTok in isolation. Ayanis is literally dripping in diamonds throughout the video, belting lyrics like, “Half a million on my way, 24 Karat on my wrist, Press don’t matter when you’re rich, Let me show you how to drip.”
The visuals are intoxicating, and Ayanis shows that her moves and vocals are flawless, making her an artist that is no one-hit-wonder. She has a style and flavor all her own and represents everything we love about R&B. She’s the artist you take notes from; get that pad and pen.
Add in the sultry bars from Atlanta raised RCA rapper Big Latto, “…AMG cause I’m extra, if you step I’mma stretch you, Let me show you how I drip, I’m Big Latto, the professor,” and you see their effortless and provocative energy giving you all types of sexy, independent and boss type vibes. Big Latto is best known for her breakout hit song “Bitch From Da Souf,” which she then remixed with Saweetie & Trina. Both versions of the track have over 35 million streams on Spotify and Apple alone, along with praise from names like Timberland and Demi Lovato for her sexy and smart self-written lyrics.
This duo literally doesn’t have to do anything extra, the moves and flow are enough, and that’s when you know an artist is legendary and the collab is fire. Ayanis and Big Latto were definitely meant for this collab, and you can see the natural chemistry in the artists; it’s explosive.
When asked about her new song, Ayanis stated that “Drip” is such a “triumphant record.” She continued, “It exudes rich & bad bitch energy! It takes you into a whole other world of YANI! I really tapped into my alter ego in this video! And I don’t think anyone has seen me in this way before. The director Azzie Scott really did his thing with the set and the treatment! It’s giving performance, looks, choreography, a wet scene, and of course the “Big Latto!” Mulatto was so dope to work with and she has amazing energy!!! It was a lot of twerks and good vibes on set! This video is everythingggg!”
