One Year Later: Remembering the Legacy of Kobe Bryant
One year after the tragic death of Kobe Bryant, fans across the internet remember his name and praise the legacy he left.
January 26 marks one year since the tragic death of famous basketball star Kobe Bryant. Bryant and eight others, including his 13-year-old daughter Gianna, were on a helicopter-headed basketball tournament in Orange County. They encountered thick fog, which caused the helicopter to crash, killing everyone aboard the plane. The nation mourned for weeks over the death of Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter. We remember Kobe and his legacy on and off the court.
Kobe Bryant was and still is someone that young athletes aspire to be. He began his NBA career directly out of high school at 17, being one of the few athletes to start their NBA career straight out of high school. He played for the Los Angeles Lakers all 20 years of his basketball career. He won five NBA championships with the Lakers, won an MVP award and two Olympic gold medals. He also won two scoring titles, one in 2006 when he scored 81 points in a single game.
