Ryan Destiny Becomes the Official Face of Black Opal Beauty
Black Opal, a beauty brand made for women of color, has officially announced their first brand ambassador, the stunning Ryan Destiny.
The multi-talented Ryan Destiny rose to fame around 2013 while apart of the music group Love Dollhouse. Continuing her path towards fame, Destiny became an actress appearing in Star, and Grown-ish. In addition to her interest in music and acting, Destiny has recently taken to modeling.
On Instagram, Destiny has shared her collaborations with brands such as Calvin Klein, Ralph & Russo, and Teen Vogue. Her well-earned success seems to have led to her collaboration with Black Opal.
Following his wife’s failed search to find products that matched her skin tone, chemist Niko Mouyiaris began the company in 1975 first called Mana Products. In 2019, ownership shifted as Desiree Rogers and Cheryl Mayberry McKissack were announced as the new owners. This switch formally changed the brand to Black Opal.
With new ownership, the brand has focused on becoming even more inclusive, stating on its website, “Black Opal celebrates the diversity of culture and skin tones, and invites all women to embrace their unique shades of beauty.”
Destiny’s personal story with the company dates back ten years. In an interview with Allure, she stated, “I started using Black Opal when I was 16 — they were the only makeup brand out there that had all the shades that I needed for my face.”
“It just felt right when they came to me. I love that it’s Black-owned and female-owned. This is a really cool thing to be a part of, and I’m just really honored,” Destiny continued in the Allure interview.
Destiny has already picked her favorite products from the new line. These include the highlighter stick, glosses, and lip/cheek balm.
Black Opal’s stunning line of products are available at blackopalbeauty.com, Ulta, Target, and Walmart.
