The trailer for HBO Max’s new series, It’s a Sin, starring Olly Alexander and Neil Patrick Harris, among many others, has just been released, with many eager to watch.
HBO Max is back with yet another series that has people raving. This week they released the trailer for It’s a Sin, a 5-episode show that is sure to tug on viewers’ heartstrings.
Previously airing in the UK under Channel4 and Red Production Co., the show went over as a huge success ahead of its release on HBO Max. The series takes place in London in the 1980s and highlights the city’s lively gay culture. Following Alexander, the lead singer of the band Years & Years, plays Ritchie Tozer, and his friends, they navigate the British capital as gay men. Harris plays Henry Coltrane, a salesman at a popular tailoring shop.
Looking for a place where they can be themselves without judgment, London seemed like the perfect location, but things take a drastic turn once the AIDS epidemic hits the country, putting gay men especially at risk. The disease sparks fear in the gay community as they become concerned for their health and safety while the British government continues to downplay the virus.

It’s a Sin was written by Russell T. Davies, who was also involved in Queer as Folk (UK) and the revival of Doctor Who. The show also stars Callum Scott Howells (Colin Morris-Jones), Lydia West (Jill Baxter), Keeley Hawes (Valerie Tozer), Omari Douglas (Roscoe Babatunde), and Nathaniel Curtis (Ash Mukherjee).

The trailer has many people talking, and it’s gotten over 1.2 million views on YouTube in just a few days. Having already debuted in the UK last week, the show has received nothing but positive feedback from viewers so far. The Guardian called it a “poignant masterpiece” in its review and it made Esquire magazine’s list of The Best TV Shows Coming in 2021.
