The nominations for this year’s Golden Globes have just been announced, and many aren’t happy. Multiple Black actors, actresses and shows weren’t recognized, with one major snub being the cast of Lovecraft Country.

Set in the United States’ Jim Crow era, Lovecraft Country intertwines horror with racism and oppression. The show instantly gained attention once it first aired last summer, with both Jurnee Smollett and Johnathan Majors getting a lot of praise for their performances.

The show has received nominations for several awards including Smollett and Majors being nominated for Best Actor and Actress in a Drama Series at this year’s Critic’s Choice Awards. That wasn’t the case for the Golden Globes, though, with no one from the show’s cast receiving any recognition.

The series received one nomination for Best Television Series Drama, but many feel that that’s not enough. Fans are shocked and upset that Smollett and Majors weren’t recognized separately and they’ve taken to social media to express their frustrations.

The cast of Lovecraft Country isn’t the only one that got snubbed, and many are noticing a pattern of shows and films with predominantly Black and minority casts not being nominated including HBO’s I May Destroy You and Spike Lee’s Da 5 Bloods.

This isn’t new with major award shows and most aren’t surprised at the snubs. The Academy Awards and Grammys have also come under fire for excluding minorities in recent years, causing both fans and celebrities to speak out in outrage.

Netflix’s films and shows lead in nominations with Mank, The Queen’s Gambit, The Crown and more receiving several. Read the full list of nominations here and tune in to the 78th Annual Golden Globes on February 28 at 8 pm EST on NBC.
