The Weeknd has announced that his After Hours Tour set for this summer has been rescheduled again for 2022 along with newly added dates.

The COVID-19 pandemic has shifted the world and affected many industries and businesses including the music industry. Artists that had upcoming tours have had to cancel or reschedule while we all wait for a time when attending concerts is safe again.

The Weeknd is one of those artists that had to put his tour on hold. His After Hours Tour was first set for the summer of 2020, but the pandemic forced it to be rescheduled for this summer in hopes that things would start to return to normal.

As COVID-19 cases and deaths continue to rise with lockdowns and travel restrictions still in place, The Weeknd has had to reschedule the tour for a second time. The tour is now set for early next year with several new dates also added, making him the first artist to announce a major tour for 2022.

The After Hours Tour is set to begin on January 14, 2022, with two shows in Vancouver. It’ll stretch for most of the year with an end date in November at London’s O2 Arena, which was just added in addition to dozens of other dates throughout Europe and North America.

Most aren’t surprised that the tour is a no-go for this year, although fans that have been patiently waiting since tickets first went on sale are disappointed that they’ll have to wait even longer. What does come as a surprise is that not only is the tour still on, but new dates are planned even though the future is still uncertain.

Some think that adding new dates for next year isn’t the best choice given the current state of the pandemic and they feel that 2022 is too soon to return to arenas filled with thousands. Despite the mixed feelings, many are still excited for the tour and hopeful that concerts will resume in a year.

For those that are hesitant, Ticketmaster is giving the option for fans that have already secured their seats to get their tickets refunded. You can head over to their site to view the dates for the After Hours Tour and purchase tickets for a show near you. For a preview of the tour, you can watch The Weeknd’s performance at the Super Bowl Halftime Show on February 7 at 6:30 pm EST on CBS.
