‘Framing Britney Spears’ FX Documentary Examines the Pop Star’s Life and Conservatorship

FX

The late Documentary, Framing Britney Spears, takes a look at Britney Spears’s personal life and the on-going legal battle with her father.

The director of the documentary, Samantha Stark, along with other people who worked closely with Spears throughout the years, will elaborate on the singer’s career and give an inside look at her life.

Spears’s career started at the young age of 11 years old when she appeared on Mickey Mouse Club House. Her debut album in 1999 was Baby One More Time, which quickly turned her into a pop sensation, constantly in the limelight from there out. The singer’s sexual music targeted her as a provocative figure which then led to nothing but sexist publicity throughout her career, which has caused backlash.

The recent fan-driven movement, #freebritney, brought to light the conservatorship where Spears’s father seemed to be controlling her life. The conservatorship was granted to her father back in 2008 after Spears was experiencing mental breakdowns, seen as unfit to be handling her royalties and personal obligations. This traumatically resulting in Spears having no legal control over her financial and personal assets.

FX Documentaries announced the documentary on January 21 by sharing a sneak peek of the film captioned “A downfall that shocked the world. And now, an ensuing conservatorship battle”.

Johanna Schiller, the archival producer of the documentary stated in an interview with The New York Times, “Britney is so incredibly well documented and so much is out there that there was an overload of material. What was challenging was finding the choice moments in that ocean of stuff and trying to pinpoint material that hadn’t been out there so much before.”

Since FX released the news of the documentary, fans have shared their reactions to Twitter as they hope this will help to get Spears gets the justice she deserves.

Tune into FX or stream on Hulu on February 5 at 10 p.m to take an inside look at the pop star’s life in the Framing Britney Spears documentary.
