The Crown actress Emma Corrin is replacing Lily James (The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society) in Amazon Studios’ romantic drama, My Policeman also starring Harry Styles (Dunkirk).

My Policeman is based on Bethan Roberts’ novel of the same name and explores the relationships between Marion (Corrin), Tom (Styles), and Patrick. When an elderly Patrick moves in with Tom and Marion, the characters resist the events of 40 years ago – Patrick and Tom’s then-illegal romance. The film is still in development and the full cast list has not yet been announced.

Deadline reported the news of the replacement hours after Corrin’s Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild nominations for her portrayal of the late Princess Diana in Netflix’ The Crown.

Deadline reported back in September 2020 that Styles and James were in negotiations for the lead role. James left the project due to prior commitments as filming will begin in April.

Theatre director Michael Grandage (Red, Frozen) will direct the film, while Ron Nyswaner (Philidelphia) adapts the novel for the screen. Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter and Robbie Rogers are set to produce the film alongside Cora Palfrey and Philip Herd at Independent Film Company and MGC.

Corrin is best known for her performance in The Crown when she joined the show in season 3. She made her film debut in March 2020 with the British comedy-drama, Misbehavior. In November 2020, Corrin was named one of 20 actors in The Hollywood Reporter’s “Next Gen Talent 2020.” We can’t wait for the rest of the cast to be announced and we can see what these incredible actors accomplish.
