The Weeknd put on a show-stopping performance of his greatest hits during the Super Bowl LV Halftime Show.

The Super Bowl is known for being one of the most-watched television events of the year, ranking in millions of viewers throughout the country. Although football is a loved sport, what many look forward to most on the big night is the Pepsi Halftime Show.

With greats like Michael Jackson, Diana Ross and Beyoncé that came before him, all eyes were on The Weeknd for his performance at this year’s game in Tampa, and he did not disappoint. He delivered stellar vocals with amazing stage production as he performed his biggest hits.

The show opened with The Weeknd on stage in a recreation of Las Vegas as he sat completely still in a vintage convertible wearing the red jacket he’s been sporting for the entirety of his After Hours era. He then hopped out as a choir dressed as angels began singing a beautiful rendition of his 2018 song “Call Out My Name.”

He went on to perform a 14-minute medley of his hit songs from the past decade, including “The Hills,” “Earned It” and “Can’t Feel My Face,” where he held the camera as he performed in a lit-up maze, reminiscent of scenes from his “Heartless” music video.

With restrictions put in place due to the ongoing pandemic, The Weeknd spent the majority of his show in the stands for a much more intimate performance than in previous years. He was joined by dancers wearing outfits identical to his and bandaged faces, a look he’s worn recently to mock Hollywood’s plastic surgery obsession.

Known for his stunning visuals and music videos that resemble short films, The Weeknd made sure to incorporate his eye for cinematography into the show, and the stage production looked like scenes out of a movie. His vocals were on point for every song as the singer made sure not to miss a note.

The Weeknd and his dancers eventually took to the field as his 2011 song “House of Balloons” blared through the stadium. The show ended with an explosive performance of his record-breaking hit “Blinding Lights” as fireworks erupted above while The Weeknd smiled from ear to ear.

Fans loved the show, which had 100 million viewers and is now the top trending video on YouTube. They’re proud of the singer for the huge achievement, especially since he was nearly homeless as an underground artist just a decade ago. The popstar invested $7 million of his own money into the performance, and it clearly paid off.
