Gadot describes why these specific women’s stories that make up the IMPACT series were chosen, stating, “…among the endless stories that we can tell, they are the stories that are more extraordinary.” She continued, “I think that with all these women, what we can see is that all of them come from difficult circumstances, whether it’s violence, poverty, trauma, discrimination, natural disasters, and yet it fuels them.”

Glitter asked Gal a question on the beautiful display of diversity and inclusivity in the series. Read below on what she had to say.

GLITTER: How important was it to make the project inclusive, specifically with women of color, and what impact do you hope this will have on the world and industry to give exposure to some of the great things that these women are doing, as well as others that are coming behind them?

GAL GADOT: “It was very important for us, but it was also something that was super easy to do.  It was like the natural decision for us to make the choices by the stories and not necessarily, but by the color of their skin.

I keep calling them my women of wonder because they are the true heroes. I go to set and I get dressed and I get my costume and sword and I fight to make believe. But they are actually there on the ground sweating and doing all they can do to really make the world a better place.

I feel like this past year has been so dark and difficult and challenging everywhere to all of us, and no matter what you watch on the news, it’s just so hard and heavy. We wanted to balance it and bring something good to the world. I think that’s important, that as much as we talk about facts and news and politics, and all of this stuff, it’s so important to talk about the people, the community, what they do together, how they bring people together to make a difference and really make a change.

They’re not just sitting and waiting and, you know, giving criticism for the way that people run the world. They actually do something to change it. So I think it’s super important to bring it again; my dream and my vision is really to create this amazing movement of people that can say, ‘Hey, I can do it, too. If she can do it, I can do it, too.’

I want to make this thing like something that would bring positive energy and change the world, because the power— and it sounds like a cliche, but I’m talking from the bottom of my heart— but we have the power. We are the people; we’re all one. We’re all dealing with different problems. We’re the ones that can help each other immediately.

I’m super passionate about this project. As you can see, there are many, many more stories to come. I do think that it’s important to share their stories. I can’t wait for you guys to get to know them more because the more you talk to them, the more you fall in love with them. It’s just really, really great to be a part of this project.”
