Being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is a career milestone that nearly all musicians strive to reach. Music legends from all genres like Michael Jackson, Aerosmith and Prince have received the honor.

This year, another set of musical icons are being considered for induction ranging from rappers to rock stars who have all had successful and decades-long careers. In order to be considered for a nomination, artists must have released their first commercial recording at least 25 years before the nomination year.

The list is comprised of 16 musicians, and fans have the chance to vote online through April 30 to choose the top five. From there, the fan votes will help determine the inductees, which will be announced in May.

The other nominees include Foo Fighters, Chaka Khan, Dionne Warwick, Iron Maiden, Carole King, LL Cool J, Kate Bush, Devo, The Go-Go’s, Fela Kuti, New York Dolls, Rage Against the Machine and Todd Rundgren. Eleven of them have been nominated in previous years, and Turner and King have already been inducted within duets.

Many fans are happy with this year’s nominees, and they’re hoping that their favorites make the final cut. A lot of people are shocked that Tina Turner has yet to be inducted as a solo artist, and they think her induction is long overdue.

Don’t forget to cast a vote by April 30 and stay tuned for the chosen inductees in May. The ceremony will be held at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland this fall, but no official date has been announced yet. The venue is now open for visits and tickets can be purchased in advance online.
