In addition to Winslet, the cast includes stars such as Richard Ryan, Evan Peters, Jean Smart, Angourie Rice,David Denman, Julianne Nicholson, and Joe Tippett.
Winslet spoke at the CMAT Winter Tour for the HBO panel early Wednesday, February 10 stating, “The story it has such a heart to it and is rooted in so much truth and it just really resonated with me.”
Along with resonating with the storyline Winslet also was able to relate to her character on a personal level, sharing the statement, “the love for her family is the thing that bolts her down and drives her in life and is her number one priority. And that was something that I was able to connect with, in the midst of all these other things that were so far away and so far removed from myself”.
With Winslet being an English actress she had to prepare her American accent for the role of Detective Sheehan. Winslet shared, “It was up there amongst the hardest accents I’ve ever done. I’d say it’s up there in the top three for sure, but it adds so much to match the character.”
When the actress was asked during the panel if she would be fit for a detective lifestyle in real life she laughingly shared that she would not be a great detective but stated, “I’d be very good at the coffee and the after beers, definitely. I’d be good at that for sure.”
Since the news was released about the series coming to HBO in April fans have expressed their excitement for Winslet’s role.
