Selena Gomez Talks About BLACKPINK Collaboration on ‘Ice Cream’

In a recent interview with GQ India, Selena Gomez discussed what it was like working with BLACKPINK on their popular hit “Ice Cream.”

The hit electro and bubblegum pop single was released in August of 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic and peaked on the Billboard Hot 100 charts at number 13. Both BLACKPINK and Selena Gomez fans spread the love for the song, with its catchy lyrics about ice cream, colorful, dance-filled music video including both artists.

During the interview with GQ India, Gomez opened up about the language barrier and struggles faced while separately recording the song and working together via FaceTime. “It was a learning process because the language was new but somehow our distinct styles along with their energy, we just fit together perfectly.” She continued on hyping up the girl group, “The BLACKPINK girls were so welcoming. We had an absolute blast while working on the song over FaceTime!”

Gomez also talked about the process of filming the upbeat, colorful music video with Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, they were unable to do anything together in person, and she was unable to meet all of the members. Regardless, the girls were still able to create a hit song. Fans are still talking about the amazing collaboration between the pop girls, sharing their excitement about Gomez and the girls of BLACKPINK’s friendship.
