Happy Face Entertainment

Billboard’s Next Big Sound Chart has been released and Dreamcatcher was recognized as the number 1 next big sound for the week of February 13, becoming the first K-Pop girl group to do so.

Dreamcatcher is a South Korean girl group formed by Happy Face Entertainment, formally known as MINX. The girl group, which officially debuted in 2017 with their EP, Nightmare, consists of seven members: JiU, SuA, Siyeon, Handong, Yoohyeon, Dami, and Gahyeon. The girl group has gained popularity overseas, gathering over 300k followers on Twitter and inspiring fans to use Twitter as a way to promote the group in the United States.

Billboard’s chart ranking for the Next Big Sound is released weekly, predicting which artists are most likely to become the next big act by measuring the fastest accelerating artists across the internet. On February 10, Billboard released the current week’s Next Big Sound, with Dreamcatcher landing at number 1.

The Billboard Next Big Sound charts analyze reports and data across music platforms online and use statistics to predict which artist’s music will gain attention. Though other K-pop groups were named in this week’s charts, Dreamcatcher is the first girl group to be named number one. Fans have taken to Twitter to congratulate the band and share their excitement on the accomplishment. This milestone comes just weeks after the group’s newest EP release, Dystopia: Road to Utopia.
