Lucasfilms and UTA Talent Agency Drop Gina Carano as a Result of Politically Insensitive Comments
After Gina Carano made the insensitive comparison of being Republican in the current political climate to being Jewish in the Holocaust, both Lucasfilms and her talent agency UTA dropped her as a client and actress on The Mandalorian.
“Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future,” a Lucasfilm spokesperson said according to The Hollywood Reporter. “Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable.”
Reading Gina Carano Instagram story comparing a republican to being a jew during the holocaust is disgusting and I’m so sorry but we can’t accept this. Disney should immediately fire her for her comments. Absolutely disgusting #FireGinaCarano

The conservative actor’s Instagram story with the political comparison has since been deleted after it was met with severe backlash from the public. However, this isn’t the first time Carano has been called out for her political comments that have offended many. Back in November, she ridiculed wearing a mask during the COVID-19 pandemic and joined in the claim of voter fraud in the 2020 presidential election.

These same tweets led to the cancelation of her Disney+ series spinoff. Now, Lucasfilms has made it clear that she won’t be apart of any shows within the Star Wars universe. Many fans were taken aback and surprised by her comments and felt like she wasn’t fit to represent her character.
idk who needs to hear this, but gina carano being fired isn’t the result of ”cancel culture”. it’s the result of her harmful anti-mask, trump supporting beliefs, her transphobia, her antisemitism. she is the result. her actions are. twitter users just drew attention to it.

Many events have been leading up to Lucasfilms letting her go, but the unsound parallel to the political divide and one of the most inhuman events in history was the final comment where the company could no longer ignore the actress’s comments. Though her character on The Mandalorian, Cara Dune, was beloved, her presence in the Star Wars fandom was controversial and questionable, coming to an abrupt end.
