Demi Lovato and Sam Fischer Release Music Video for Their Single ‘What Other People Say’

The official video for “What Other People Say,” the collaborative single from Demi Lovato and Sam Fischer, is out now.

After having released the collaboration of their song on February 4, the duo took to social media to tease that they had more coming. It was then later revealed that they had been working on a music video, which released on February 16.
The opening shows a gloomy, dark train and the blank expressions of all the passengers. Lovato then comes in belting with her powerful vocals. Lovato’s beautiful vibrato summons pink lights that match her hair and gave the dreary train a much more upbeat tone.
Fisher then joins her in the train as rain pours outside. The duo eventually ends up on top of the train, while it’s moving. The emotional and relatable song is sung to the city lights at night. It ends with a mutual smile and both singers exiting the train.
“This song is a reflection on what it’s like to lose who you truly are in an effort to please other people and society,” Lovato explained to Rolling Stone, “It’s why I wanted to make this song with Sam — ultimately it’s about two humans coming together to connect and find solutions to their problems.”

Dan Cerny was the director behind the visual masterpiece. The song is the singer’s acknowledgment of whom they have become after caring about what other people say and think. Quite vocal about her mental health and her personal life, songs like this that dig into emotions and society are a staple for Lovato.
The two give a visually stunning performance to match their song, drawing our expectations for future projects only that much higher. We will absolutely be listening to “What Other People Say,” practicing the Glitter self-love that the pair so perfectly describes.
