Disney’s ‘Cruella’ Stars Emma Stone and Here’s the Official Trailer
Emma Stone stars in Disney’s live-action adaptation Cruella, set in 1970s London.
The official trailer for Cruella was released on February 16. The trailer features a track of “Who’s Sorry Now?” playing eerily in the background. Stone walks through the streets of London with flowing red hair. She dramatically sets her white cape ablaze at a party to reveal a red dress underneath. She wants to be daring and bold but instead is othered by society according to the narration they see her as a “psycho” with a troubled upbringing. This gives her a gradual transformation to the villain that we know her as.

According to IndieWire, Craig Gillespie (director of I, Tonya) directed this film. The head of the fashion house is portrayed by Emma Thompson who was in Sense and Sensibility and Disney’s Saving Mr. Banks. Cruella’s henchman Horace is played by Paul Walker Hauser, who was in I, Tanya and BlacKkKlansman.
The film was originally announced in the summer of 2019 with a first-look photo shoot. The black-and-white poster features an anarchist A in Emma reminiscent of the 70s British punk scene.
Fans on Twitter are excited to see Stone in a dramatic role and are comparing the aesthetics to Margot Robbie’s portrayal of Harley Quinn.
Honestly going the Harley Quinn route with Cruella is lowkey genius. I think Emma Stone is about to eat it up not gonna lie. The visual style also looks a lot different than these other live action re-imaginings.
