FKA Twigs Files Lawsuit Against Ex-Boyfriend Shia LaBeouf For Abuse
FKA Twigs opens up about the abusive relationship she was in with Shia LaBeouf.
Musician FKA Twigs, whose real name is Tahliah Barnett, filed a lawsuit last year against the Transformers actor, Shia LaBeouf. Twigs and LaBeouf met while working on the set of the movie, Honey Boy which LaBeouf starred in. The two began to date for nine months which came to an end in May of 2019 after they claimed the relationship did not work due to conflicting work schedules.
Eventually, Twigs came out to express what actually was going on behind closed doors and spoke out on the abuse she suffered during their nine-month relationship. Twigs shared in a late interview with Gayle King on CBS This Morning, which will air on Thursday, February 18 that LaBeouf would play mind games with her telling her she was “disgusting” and “vile.” LaBeouf would force her to sleep naked and wake her up in the middle of the night accusing her of “plotting to leave him.”
In a clip of the interview, Twigs stated, “It’s a tactic that a lot of abusers use. It’s just this constant availability, and everything centered around them. And I think that’s why I wanted to come out and talk about this. Because the signs really are there from the beginning.”

LaBeouf’s love went from romantic to abusive in a short amount of time. In addition to the mental abuse he allegedly knowingly gave Twigs a sexually transmitted disease.
The lawsuit filed against LaBeouf entails sexual battery, assault, and infliction of emotional distress. FKA Twigs told Elle Magazine, “It’s a miracle I came out alive.”
LaBeouf has since denied all allegations against him and was dropped by his talent agency. LaBeouf said in a statement to New York Times, “I’m not in any position to tell anyone how my behavior made them feel. I have no excuses for my alcoholism or aggression, only rationalizations. I have been abusive to myself and everyone around me for years. I have a history of hurting the people closest to me. I’m ashamed of that history and am sorry to those I hurt. There is nothing else I can really say.”
After hearing the shocking news from Twigs, her fans have taken to Twitter in support of her coming out to stand against her abuser.
FKA Twigs is incredibly brave for opening up about the abuse she has suffered. too many men keep getting away with being monsters. im glad she’s on a path towards healing.

fka twigs, all the love. to be able to speak about her trauma so openly means so much to those that are in similar circumstances or have survived them. she deserves so much, and i’m so glad to know she’s safe and well.

In the wake of the #MeToo movement, it is inspiring to see so many stories being told, yet heartbreaking that they happened. We wish Twigs the best in her fight, and continue to admire the outpouring of love she has received.
