Justine Skye has shared the release date of her new concept film, Intruded, which will premiere on February 19.

Intruded is the latest project from Skye and she just posted the concept art on Twitter, uploading a photo of what appears to be the official cover. Laying on a grey floor, she is surrounded by old desktop computers, cords, mouses, and drives. Centered, Skye wears a piece of red plastic covering her chest. The picture is on vinyl.

Perhaps the cover art is an ode to Skye becoming an independent artist, leaving the fabricated idealism behind. With her music being incredibly personal to her, there appears to be a promising edge of Skye’s connection deepening with her audience.

Justine Skye’s official website stated, “‘This is the best thing that I’ve ever done in my life. I’m the dominant writer on this project, which has never happened before for me — I was getting records sent in that I could relate to, but that I didn’t write,’ Skye says. ‘Those weren’t my melodies. Those weren’t my words. But on this album, everything’s super personal to me, and every single moment, every line, every melody, I can tell you what was going on.'”

An eleven-second teaser, posted on Twitter on February 17, followed her initial announcement. The video is set in blue and black colors, continuously glitching. While nothing definitive is shown, audio presently creates an anxiety-inducing foley. Lapsing reverb and static appears to give the clip a nudge of fear.

Initially rising to fame at nineteen on the social media site Tumblr, Skye became known as a talented musician. A few years after her signing with Atlantic Records, she wanted to take a turn in her own direction. From modeling, rapping, singing, and acting, Skye is a multi-talented young woman. In 2019, Skye took control of her career, starting to write songs as an independent artist. Collaborating with Timbaland, Skye molded Intruded

Skye’s website continues, “Then came the pandemic. As the life slowed to a halt, she used the sudden abundance of time to find more ways of connecting. One of the results of this newfound time was her cover of Crosby, Stills & Nash’s ‘Helplessly Hoping,’ which found its way to legendary producer Timbaland, who soon reached out to collaborate on an original song.”

Created and directed by Nina Holmgren, the appearance shown seems to include a darker aesthetic. She has used this tone in past films, such as Club 99.7 and I Want You To Panic. While not much is known about Holmgren’s direction for Intruded, the anticipation of the film is grandeur.

Another teaser clip was shared on Skye’s Instagram on February 16. Skye is sitting hugging a television as the camera pans up from her long hair.

The film will include appearances by Bella Hadid, Timbaland, and Lil Yachty. The premiere is on Justine Skye’s official YouTube channel, set for 12:00 AM on February 19.
