In her acceptance speech, Pike saluted the other nominees before joking that “it looks like I care a lot,” a reference to the film title.
Pike also praised fellow nominee Bakalova’s courageous performance in her acceptance speech, saying, “In my movie, I had to swim up from a sinking car; I think I’d still rather do that than being in a room with Rudy Giuliani. Maria, I salute your brilliance and your bravery.”
She thanked the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for “recognizing the dark side of comedy” alongside the film’s cast, including Dianne Weist, Chris Messina, Peter Dinklage, her “wife” Eiza González.
Pike also acknowledged “America’s broken legal system for making it possible to make stories like [I Care A Lot].” In the film, Pike plays a professional guardian who defrauds elderly clients through legal loopholes in America’s conservatorship process.

In addition to celebrating the best in film and television, the telecast highlighted Feeding America, the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization, and its COVID-19 Relief Fund. It also supported CORE (Community Organized Relief Effort).
In appreciation of their courage and sacrifice to provide care, support, and public service for their communities throughout the pandemic, frontline and essential workers, including food bank workers, attended the event.
All individuals, including production workers, hosts, presenters, and audience members, followed COVID-19 guidelines set forth by the industry, federal, state, and local governments.
I Care A Lot, starring Rosamund Pike, Peter Dinklage, Eiza González, and others, is currently available for streaming exclusively on Netflix.
