This week, Calvin Klein launched their spring 2021 campaign featuring many familiar faces, including Megan Thee Stallion as their star.

The Calvin Klein spring 2021 campaign, entitled ‘Blank Canvas,’ was curated by fashion photographer mastermind and visionary Mario Sorrenti, boasting a black and white ‘blank canvas’ for the shoot. The newest campaign features many iconic Calvin pieces ranging from the classic white tee, laid-back denim, monochromatic gender-neutral items, and the staple yet simple monogrammed Calvin underwear line. The all-star cast behind the campaign features Megan, Jacob Elordi, the rising Euphoria star, reggae artist Koffee, Queer Skate LA, Japanese pop star Rina Sawayama, skateboarder Sage Elsesser, dancer Vinson Fraley, Hamilton’s Anthony Ramos, and activist Janaya Future Khana are also featured in the ad.

Rina Sawayama is a Japanese/British pop-star recently on the come-up for her singing, songwriting, and modeling talents. Sawayama has been a force to be reckoned with in the British music industry. She singlehandedly changed Brit Award Eligibility Rules after a comment regarding that she was ineligible due to her not being “British enough” outraged fans. Rina Sawayama, according to NPR News, “Wants her success to make space for Asian women in pop music.”

Jacob Elordi, the 23-year old rising Euphoria superstar is no stranger to the Calvin Klein camera, starring in his first shoot back in 2019. According to W Magazine, Elordi “caused a stir in fashion circles. He’s the first—and so far only—prominent male-identifying celebrity to embrace Fendi’s revamped menswear version of its iconic Baguette bag. But the hoopla surrounding any so-called ‘man purse’ isn’t among Elordi’s concerns; he approaches fashion just as casually as undressing for Sorrenti.” Elordi is keen on creating gender-fluid designs in fashion that works for everyone, promoting an inclusive and safe environment around his products and endorsements.

According to Vogue Magazine, Megan has always had a dream of modeling for Calvin Klein. “Ever since I started wearing bras. I really liked that swag in the early ’90s, when I would see the old campaigns for the jeans or the Calvin Klein underwear and bras. When I grew up, I was like, ‘one day, I want to [model for Calvin Klein]—I don’t know how I’m gonna do it, but I want to do it.’ In high school, I would definitely wear my pants a little low sometimes so that people could see my Calvin Klein underwear. And to be a part of it now as Megan Thee Stallion, I’m like, wow, things really come full circle. I told myself I’d be on a Calvin Klein billboard, and that actually happened. I’m so grateful.” She’s been vocal about her excitement regarding the campaign, and fans are thrilled to see her living out a life-long dream of hers.
