Melissa McCarthy and Octavia Spencer Join Forces in New Netflix Superhero Comedy ‘Thunder Force’
Melissa McCarthy and Octavia Spencer are teaming up in the new Netflix original, Thunder Force, streaming on April 9.
The two actresses have become the latest female superhero duo. The trailer shows McCarthy and Spencer as good friends who are fighting crime and unleashing their superpowers left and right. McCarthy’s power is super-strength, while Spencer has invisibility. The villains often underestimate the duo as they are both in their forties; therefore, they are not viewed as a threat.
McCarthy and Spencer take viewers on a journey navigating through their powerful world. Fans are here for the new comedic superhero duo that the world never thought they needed until now.

Thunder Force is written and directed by Ben Falcone, McCarthy’s husband since 2005. Falcone and McCarthy have worked on numerous films together such as Bridesmaids (2011), The Heat (2013), Tammy (2014), Spy (2015), Life of the Party (2018), and many others.
McCarthy and Spencer will have an epic face-off with the film’s antagonist, played by Bobby Cannavale. Cannavale’s side-kick is played by Jason Bateman. Bateman took to Twitter with the joke, “This trailer makes me real crabby,” which is a nod to his character who has crab-claws for hands.
