St. Vincent Releases Single ‘Pay Your Way In Pain’ for Upcoming Album ‘Daddy’s Home’
St. Vincent has shared details about her upcoming album Daddy’s Home, beginning with the release of her first single “Pay Your Way In Pain” and announcing the album release date.
After a few weeks of speculation, St. Vincent has broken her silence on her new album Daddy’s Home, the follow-up to 2017’s Masseduction. On March 4, St. Vincent released her 70s-inspired single “Pay Your Way In Pain,” the title track she co-wrote with her Masseduction collaborator Jack Antonoff. Along with St. Vincent, Antonoff has worked with other prominent female musicians such as Lana Del Rey, Lorde, and Taylor Swift.
St. Vincent teased on Twitter that “The show is only getting started” (which are actual song lyrics to “Pay Your Way In Pain”) and fans are ecstatic about this new era. St. Vincent embodies a 70s starlet as she continues to wear her blonde bob and retro outfits, giving a touch of nostalgia to her music.
Oh no you thought we had forgotten? The show is only getting started.

To celebrate her new era, St. Vincent participated in a Q&A on Twitter where she shared small details about the making of the album, some inspirations for the album, and reuniting with Jack Antonoff. She mentions Antonoff’s crazy bass playing and writes, “You’ll see.\,” which has left fans of the duo curious to see Antonoff’s involvement.
I love jack to the moon and back. it was nothing but enjoyment making this record with him. and I knew he was a great musician, but I had no idea he could RIP on bass…you’ll see. #AskStVincent https://t.co/7WDetoqd6a

With the new details of the album, fans have taken to twitter to show their support and excitement leading up to the release date.
That new St Vincent song and the accompanying video are off the chain. To my ears it’s somewhere between plastic soul era Bowie early Prince. I’m in.
