The Healing Justice Project Launched by Camila Cabello Aims to Provide Mental Health Support for Front Line Activists
Singer Camila Cabello is using her platform to advocate for mental health support for activists by launching the Healing Justice Project in partnership with the Movement Voter Fund. The project’s primary focus is to provide mental health care to frontline activists. She announced the launch of her project in January of 2021.
Cabello has been using her time during quarantine to become more educated on racial inequality. Her project aims to provide direct funding to mental health resources for young activists and organizations that support racial and economic justice. As Billboard reports, the idea of her project came about when she was in conversation with Nadine Burke Harris, a California general surgeon. Harris was explaining to Cabello the toll toxic stress can have on a person’s body. She also had conversations with the founders of the racial equity group National Compadres Network, which sparked her interest in launching the fund.
