‘The People We Hate at the Wedding’ Comedy Will Star Annie Murphy, Ben Platt, and Allison Janney
Director Clair Scanlon is bringing a live-action film version of the 2017 Grant Ginder novel, The People We Hate at the Wedding.
On March 2, the UTA Independent Film Group revealed the comedy project at the virtual European Film Market. The People We Hate at the Wedding will star Emmy-winner Annie Murphy, Oscar-winner Allison Janney, and Tony-winner Ben Platt.
Murphy, Janney, and Platt will be portraying a dysfunctional family who can’t seem to get along. During a family wedding, forced to room together, many daunting secrets get spilled. Perhaps the reuniting of this family will reconnect them in ways they never thought possible.
Lizzie Molyneux-Logelin and Wendy Molyneux, writers for Bob’s Burgers,’ will be writing the script. According to Deadline, the pair have been producing drafts since 2018. The author, Grant Ginder, released this novel in 2017 under the humorous fiction genre. Snarky comedy and unappealing characters drove the story’s dysfunctionality.
