Jhenè Aiko Celebrates ‘Sailing Soul(s)’ Mixtape After 10 Years

Jhenè Aiko released her first mixtape Sailing Soul(s) to all major music streaming platforms in honor of the project’s 10-year anniversary.

Aiko self-released the 13-track mixtape, Sailing Soul(s) back in March 16, 2011, which launched her career as fans know today. The mixtape features singers such as Miguel, Gucci Mane, Drake, Kanye West, and Kendrick Lamar. The re-release of the project is her way of saying “thank you” to the fans who have supported her music from the very beginning.

Aiko took to Instagram on March 11 to share the official tracklist for the mixtape which also includes four never before heard bonus songs. She captioned the photo, “can’t believe its been 10 years!!! added some extras on here for u to stream too”.

In a 2014 interview with Complex, back when her singing career took off, Aiko stated “The Sailing Soul(s) mixtape, that was the height of me going through all of this stuff”, she continued “I’d just had my daughter and I was working at a vegan café and I wanted to do this mixtape, so I was recording after work. I just needed to release all my frustration and my heartache and pain. It’s [easier] for me to write about that type of stuff than [happiness]”

Since Aiko released the news about Sailing Soul(s) being available on all platforms, fans have taken to Twitter to express their excitement.
