Ariana Grande and Lady Gaga’s Grammy win for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for their song “Rain On Me” made history at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards on Sunday, March 14. Gaga and Grande are the first all-female collaboration to win the category. Gaga is now a twelve-time Grammy winner; Grande is now a two-time Grammy winner.

Upon hearing the exciting news, Grande immediately took to Twitter urging Gaga to wake up. Grande simply writes, “MOTHER MONSTER WAKE UP.” Gaga serves as the matriarch to her loyal fan base, who call themselves Little Monsters. Gaga had most likely been asleep when Grande was excitedly posting on social media as she is currently in Italy filming the Ridley Scott drama film, The House of Gucci, where she is starring as Patrizia Reggiani, the ex-wife of Maurizio Gucci.

Gaga also wrote in a tweet that she will be watching the Grammys from Italy and shared how lucky she feels just to be nominated. Gaga was nominated for Best Pop Vocal Album for her sixth studio album Chromatica, but she lost to Dua Lipa’s album Future Nostalgia.

Despite operating in different time zones, Grande continued to share how grateful she is for this powerful female-driven collaboration. Grande wrote in a tweet, “eternally, deeply grateful for u, for this experience, to have been a part of this song and this celebration of healing and recovery, to be able to dance in the rain with u, to call u my dear friend & to now share this. beyond thankful. congratulations queen, ti voglio bene! Grande wrote in Italian “I love you” to Gaga, paying homage to their Italian roots.

Fans are so proud of this collaboration and well-deserved win from the powerhouse vocalists. This pop masterpiece was something the fans truly needed during such unprecedented times.
