Ingrid Michaelson and Zayn Have Released Their Song ‘To Begin Again’
Ingrid Michaelson has teamed up with Zayn Malik for a stunning song titled “To Begin Again.” The singers have surprised fans with a collaboration they wrote along with Sarah Aarons, a co-writer of popular songs such as Zedd’s “Stay” and “The Middle.” The song beautifully showcases both artists’ vocals. “To Begin Again” symbolizes hope and a brighter future. The photo features a sketch of two people hugging, embracing each other after the hard year that was 2020.
“To Begin Again” begins with Michaelson’s soft vocals. She starts the song with “When the world was ending / I’d hold you in my arms / And we talked about the places we’d never been. These lyrics parallel with the frightening COVID world everyone found themselves living in. As one listens further, the song gives a snapshot of a brighter world when she sings, “But then the sun came back / And the birds sang as if nothing had happened / And it’s alright / It’s okay / We will get / Another day / To begin again, to begin again, to begin again. These lyrics can symbolize the promise of a world slowly inching back to a new normal now that a vaccine has been made available.

As Zayn makes his way onto the song, his lyrics are very similar to Michaelson’s. Zayn begins with “When the world was ending / We looked up to the sky / And we talked about the last song that we’d play.” This sadness he sings of is then followed by a more hopeful tone as he continues, “But then the sun came back / And the kids played as if nothing happened / And it’s alright / It’s okay / We will get / Another day / To begin again, to begin again, to begin again.”
