TWICE Breaks the Record as the Best-Selling K-Pop Girl Group in Japan
TWICE, the South Korean girl group formed by JYP Entertainment has been named the best-selling k-pop girl group in Japan, breaking a record that was previously held for ten years by KARA, a Korean girl group that was active from 2007 to 2016. The news was announced on March 18 that TWICE has officially broken a record based on sales in Japan, the second biggest market for k-pop music. The girl-group also holds the record for the highest-ranking k-pop girl group in Korea, which was announced earlier this year.
According to Oricon, who produces the Japanese music industry album charts, TWICE hit over 3.31 million sales of their music. This breaks the previous record of 3.24 million sales. At the end of last year, the girl band also broke the record for the best-selling girl group in South Korea. The group had over 5.8 million albums sold, breaking a 20-year record held by S.E.S.
TWICE being the BEST SELLING KPOP GG in both South Korea and Japan is something to behold of. And to think that Japan is the 2nd Largest market in the world.
