The Lionsgate Hit Film ‘Barb & Star Go to Vista Del Mar’ Is Coming to Digital and DVD
The new Lionsgate hit, Barb & Star Go to Vista Del Mar, written by Annie Mumolo and Kristen Wiig, will be released to digital on March 26, and available on DVD as of April 6. The writers of the hit classic, Bridesmaids, also star as the protagonists of the film. Mumola portrays Barb and Wiig portrays Star.
Barb and Star are midwesterners in their forties. They choose to go on a trip to Florida for some “soul douching” after they are fired from their job. They are also kicked out of their local ladies gathering, referred to as the “Talking Club,” which is hosted by Debbie, portrayed by former SNL star, Vanessa Bayer.
On their trip, the two women encounter a gorgeous man named Edgar Pagét, played by Jamie Dornan (Fifty Shades of Gray, “The Fall,” and Anthropoid). Now tangled in much more than they had anticipated, the duo finds themselves on the adventure of a lifetime.
One of the features of the special featurettes included with the DVD and Blu-Ray is a behind-the-scenes featurette called the “Casting and Chemistry of Kristen and Anne.” This featurette shows glimpses of how the actors and crew felt about filming.

In the DVD and Blu-Ray exclusive interview, Mumolo claims that she and Wiig have the “best creative relationship.”
Director Josh Greenbaum admires the team acting dynamic of Mumolo and Wiig because, for them, improvising is “not just about the joke; they create fully formed complex characters who have wants and needs and fears.”
