‘Hawkeye’ Spinoff Series About Echo Starring Hailee Steinfeld, Florence Pugh, and Alaqua Cox in Early Development for Disney+
The Hawkeye series at Disney Plus is getting a spinoff centering on Echo, which is said to be in its earliest stages. For fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, this is yet another reason to get excited. The series will focus on Echo, a deaf Native American superhero played by Alaqua Cox. Etan Cohen and Emily Cohen are set to write and executive produce the series. Marvel Studios will be producing.
Echo, whose real name is Maya Lopez, has a rare ability to perfectly copy someone’s movements or fighting styles, proving to be a powerful force in battle. In the Marvel comics, Echo crosses paths with various characters such as Daredevil, Moon Knight, and The Avengers. She is the first to have the title of Ronin, a name that is synonymous with Clint Barton, also known as Hawkeye in the beloved comics. In the 2019 smash-hit film, Avengers: Endgame, Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) had briefly used the name Ronin.

Back in December, Variety had reported that Cox and various others were attached to the Hawkeye series. Some big names would include Vera Farmiga, Florence Pugh, Fra Fee, Tony Dalton, and Zahn McClarnon. Cox will be making her debut in the series. Renner will be reprising his role as Hawkeye. Hailee Steinfeld has joined the cast as Kate Bishop, Hawkeye’s protege. Steinfeld’s mother is played by Farmiga; her name is Eleanor Bishop. Pugh will reprise her Black Widow role as the spy and assassin Yelena Belova. Fee will play Kazi, the comic book character Kazimierz Kazimierczak, also known as the villain Clown. Dalton will play Jack Duquesne, Hawkeye’s former mentor named Swordsman, and McClarnon plays William Lopez, Echo’s father.
