Starbucks Increases Plant-Based Alternatives For Their Vegan and Vegetarian Customers

Caffeine super-giant Starbucks recently added some plant-based options to their menu to better satisfy vegan and vegetarian customers. New to the menu is the new Iced Brown Sugar Oatmilk Shaken Espresso drink and the Chickpea Bites & Avocado Protein Box.

Amongst the new additions to the menu, the most exciting, emulating lots of excitement across social media is the newly added dairy alternative, plant-based oat milk. For those who are not acquainted with what oat milk is, it’s plant-based milk produced by deriving the plant material from oats with water. The result is creamy and rich dairy-free milk that tastes wonderful in coffee. You can substitute dairy milk for oat milk amongst the other plant-based kinds of milk Starbucks offers, such as almond, soy, and coconut.

According to one Twitter user, the Iced Brown Sugar Oatmilk Shaken Espresso drink from Starbucks has been living rent-free in their mind. Starbucks describes the drinks as, “Blonde espresso, brown sugar, and cinnamon together, and then top it off with oat milk and ice for a cool lift to power you through your day.” The newly added oat-milk has been a massive hit and should be expected to stay as a permanent menu item due to its enormous popularity and success.

One social media comment credited the new menu items to be in response to Animal Outlook’s efforts to transition people to the vegan lifestyle. Medical News Today states that “A vegan or plant-based diet excludes all animal products, including meat, dairy, and eggs. When people follow it correctly, a vegan diet can be highly nutritious, reduce the risk of chronic diseases, and aid weight loss.”

In addition to the oat milk menu items, Starbucks added a vegan Chickpea Bites & Avocado Protein Box. It includes chickpea bites, snap peas, mini carrots, a dried cranberry and nut mix, and avocado spread which give a powerful punch of 15 grams of protein. Chickpea bites are similar to chicken nuggets with breadcrumb-coated chickpeas.
